Intentions

I intend to create a product that focus’ mainly on targeting 16-25 year olds, generally the majority being females however there will be elements of interest for the males, such as a typical boys night out at university which many will be able to relate too whether attending university or not. The main background of the programme will be based around university life, particularly the first year at university when students stereotypically tend to go out a lot more and meet many new people, which means there will always be the opportunity for me to add new cast members in throughout the series to keep the audience interested as to who the new people are. I have chosen to base it around university life as no structured reality TV programme has focused on this so far, therefore it would be a completely new product on the market. From my audience research I found that the audience preferred characters who were a bit more ‘down to earth’ therefore not the stereotypical ‘posh’ cast you may find (for example in Made in Chelsea or Desperate Scousewives) which is why many found Geordie shore easier to relate too as it showed a realistic side to their lives not just the glamour, therefore I intend for my cast to be realistic people, quite natural looking who also enjoy dressing up for a night out. When broadcasting possible scenes at a party I will ensure that pre-watershed guidelines are followed by not showing shots of possible alcoholic consumption and any scenes of a sexual reference will not offend any of the possible audiences pre-watershed. I intend for my product to be unique as it will show an all-round aspect of university life, not just the nights out and not just the studying but a mixture of social life and education.
I also intend to create a webpage which keeps the audience completely up to date on the lives of the cast, therefore I will include any relevant social networking sites such as twitter where audience members will be able to follow all of the cast and tweet them directly, also a general Facebook on the programme giving further information. The website will include pages on all of the characters as well as a ‘catch up’ option for those who have missed the show. This website will be kept engaging through the use of live chats, and also short quizzes or games to encourage audience participation within the show as well as the audience some weeks being able to suggest interview questions of what they’d like to know.

Freshers webpage design

Home: This will include a general overview of watch the shows about as well as a 'catch up' option to watch any missed episodes

This week: This page will include the latest activities of what certain people have been up too, with the possibility of uploading quizzes, interviews, pictures of them off set in their daily lives and the opportunity for live web chats where the audience can ask members questions they like.

The Gang: This page will include details of what everyone is like, the types of people they are and links to twitter accounts to ensure the audience have full access to the casts daily lives

We will also include a standardised sidebar to ensure continuity throughout, this will include quizzes, links to the main social networking sites for freshers and updates from freshers about the lives of the cast.
